Frequently Asked Questions About Dog Boarding and Training

What should I bring for my dog during Board and Train?

Please bring your dog’s flat collar and leash, their favorite toy, pre-bagged food for the morning and night, any medications they need and high-value treats. We provide bowls, beds and additional boarding items.

How long does the Board and Train program take?

At Sit Means Sit Charleston, our experienced dog trainers fully customize your dog’s training sessions to ensure your pup makes the most of their boarding time. The length of stay depends on your training goals and your dog’s needs, which we’ll discuss during your free evaluation.

Can I visit my dog during the boarding and training period?

To maintain consistency in training and avoid disrupting your dog’s progress, we do not schedule visits during their stay with us. However, we’ll send you regular updates and photos of your dog’s progress to keep you informed while you’re away.

Will my dog be fully trained at the end of the program?

Your dog will learn many new skills during their stay, but their success depends on following through with the training at home. That’s why our Dog Board and Train programs include Private Dog Training Lessons to teach you how to maintain and build upon your dog’s new behaviors, along with access to our Group Classes for ongoing support.

What Charleston Dog Owners Are Saying

Felt at Ease Leaving My Dog in Their Care
“We’ve been through several training programs for our 2-year-old retriever mix, but Sit Means Sit has made the biggest difference by far. Oliver spent a week in the Board and Train program and has made such great progress thanks to Cassie and Haven! We felt at ease leaving him in their care and loved receiving his progress videos throughout the week. The first Group Class went so well, and we will keep coming back to refine his skills!”

My Dog Gained So Much Confidence
“My dog Katie Kate has learned so much from her Board and Train. She is becoming a much more confident girl who can walk on a leash, plus sit and listen so much more consistently. We are going to continue to learn with Sit Means Sit in our Group Classes! Thank you so much to Haven, Cassie and Cara. I’m so grateful for your help. She clearly loved you guys and was so happy to see you all when we come in for Private Lessons.”

Fantastic, Patient Dog Trainers
“We brought our German shepherd puppy to Sit Means Sit because she would not listen to us, dragged me around when I tried to walk her, and had become unmanageable…at 7 months old! When we picked her up from boarding and training, we had a different dog. Cassie, Haven and Kara are fantastic with the dogs. They are patient with the dogs and their humans. We couldn’t ask for better ongoing, progressive training.”
